JAX SILVER BLACKENER – 2 FL OZ
A deep antique finish without waiting for the ages to pass.

JAX Silver Blackener quickly produces a dark gray-to-black antique finish on clean silver and gold. Use it to emphasize stamped designs, textures, engraving, recesses and dimensional details or to darken the entire surface before polishing the high points back to a contrasting shine.

The reaction happens at room temperature without heat or electricity. Because it works quickly, you can build and adjust the finish rather than spending the afternoon watching metal contemplate becoming darker.

WHY JEWELERS USE IT
* Produces a dark antique finish on silver and gold
* Works quickly at room temperature
* Excellent for highlighting texture and recessed details
* Finish can be relieved with a polishing cloth, fine Scotch-Brite or rouge cloth
* May be reapplied if too much of the finish is removed
* Use at full strength - do not dilute
* 2 fl oz bottle

SURFACE PREPARATION
Clean metal is the secret to an even finish. Remove all lacquer, wax, oil, grease, fingerprints and polishing residue before applying the blackener.

Wash the piece thoroughly and rinse well. A final cleaning with grease-cutting dishwashing liquid can help remove remaining surface oils. Handle the cleaned metal with gloves to avoid putting fingerprints right back where you just removed them.

Always test the product on a small, inconspicuous area before treating the entire piece.

HOW TO USE
Put on chemical-resistant gloves and eye protection and work in a well-ventilated area.

Apply JAX Silver Blackener with a bristle brush, sponge or disposable cloth. The piece may also be dipped briefly in a separate plastic or glass working container.

Watch the reaction closely. Remove or rinse the product when the metal becomes slightly darker than the finish you want.

Rinse the piece thoroughly with plenty of fresh water and dry completely.

Use a polishing cloth, fine Scotch-Brite or rouge cloth to relieve the raised areas and reveal the desired contrast.

If too much color is removed, clean the piece and apply the blackener again.

Once the finish is complete, it may be protected with a suitable wax, oil or clear lacquer if desired.

IMPORTANT WORKING NOTES
* Do not dilute.
* Do not leave the solution on the metal longer than necessary.
* Do not pour used solution back into the original bottle.
* Use only plastic or glass working containers.
* Do not mix with other chemicals.
* Not recommended for thinly silver-plated items.
* Coatings, lacquer and surface oils will prevent the solution from reacting evenly with the metal.
* Different alloys and surface conditions may produce different shades and reaction times.
